About the role

An opportunity exists for a Hybrid Cloud Specialist to join the Technology Operations team in Perth. Reporting to the Manager Hybrid Cloud, you’ll help modernise the infrastructure and hosting platforms that support Hancock Iron Ore’s technology environment.

Working across on-premises infrastructure and cloud, you’ll use your experience in systems administration and infrastructure engineering while introducing greater automation, scripting and Infrastructure as Code. You’ll help improve how platforms are built, configured, maintained and supported, while reducing manual processes and legacy technical debt.

This role would suit an experienced systems administrator or infrastructure engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, automating repetitive work and wants to build their capability across modern infrastructure engineering and cloud technologies.

 

Duties

  • Drive the modernisation of hybrid cloud and hosting platforms, improving reliability, security, scalability and supportability
  • Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting and automation to streamline how infrastructure is built, deployed and managed
  • Build reusable automation, tooling and deployment patterns that create consistent, repeatable and efficient infrastructure environments
  • Apply modern DevOps and platform engineering practices to improve infrastructure delivery, operations and lifecycle management
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across infrastructure projects, working with architects, engineers, vendors and delivery partners to deliver robust solutions
  • Help shape the transition of suitable workloads and services to cloud platforms, while simplifying existing environments and reducing legacy infrastructure and technical debt
  • Explore and adopt automation, AI-enabled capabilities and emerging technologies, while sharing knowledge and helping build modern infrastructure engineering capability across the team

 

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience delivering and supporting enterprise hosting infrastructure, including virtualised, compute, storage, Windows Server and private cloud environments
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripting and automation, using technologies such as Terraform, Ansible and PowerShell
  • Experience delivering infrastructure modernisation, lifecycle programs or major technology implementations within complex enterprise environments
  • Experience applying DevOps, CI/CD and platform engineering practices to infrastructure delivery, including source control and Git-based development practices
  • Exposure to public cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, including the migration, modernisation or integration of workloads across hybrid cloud environments
  • Relevant technical qualifications or industry certifications across cloud, infrastructure, automation or DevOps technologies, with certifications in Azure, VMware, Terraform or Ansible highly regarded
  • Experience within large-scale, complex enterprise environments, with exposure to mining, resources or industrial technology environments considered advantageous
