About the Role

The Sustaining Capital team is seeking a Specialist Engineering Projects to join the team on a 12-month contract. This Perth-based role operates on a Monday-to-Friday roster and requires regular travel to site.Reporting to the Superintendent Projects – Port & Rail, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the design, procurement and construction phases of various projects. You will ensure projects are delivered in accordance with Hancock Iron Ore requirements and within agreed safety, quality, time and cost parameters.

Duties

  • Provide technical advice and prepare and review scopes of work, technical documentation, contracts and capital cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams, subcontractors and key stakeholders to resolve issues and support successful project delivery.
  • Identify and manage project risks, technical queries, requests for information and variations, assessing impacts on safety, cost, quality and schedule.
  • Manage the execution of small projects, including planning, cost control, procurement, contract administration, site mobilisation, construction and demobilisation.
  • Monitor multidisciplinary interfaces, engaging technical specialists where required.
  • Maintain accurate project controls, registers and progress reports.
  • Ensure project activities comply with HIO policies and applicable contractual, quality, environmental, health and safety requirements.
  • Support project delivery while minimising disruption to ongoing production.


Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated project or design engineering experience, delivering both site- and office-based outcomes.
  • Proven capability across the full project lifecycle, including scoping, planning, scheduling, cost control, construction and commissioning.
  • Experience preparing tender documentation and managing tender, contractor and construction activities.
  • Previous iron ore experience within operational and brownfield environments is desirable.
  • Experience delivering NPI projects in a brownfield environment is desirable.
