About the role:

The Rail Rollingstock Maintenance team is currently seeking a Maintainer Wagon Boilermaker to join them on a 14 days on, 14 days off, days and nights FIFO roster from Perth to port Hedland. Reporting to the XXX, you will be responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications on the Rollingstock fleet, including marking, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining metal materials to OEM specifications. It involves performing wheel set machining, supporting rolling stock recovery operations, and working as part of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and prompt inspections, servicing, and repairs.


Duties:

  • Carry out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as instructed by the workshop Supervisors
  • Perform inspections, servicing and repairs, interpretation and alignment of schedules and plans 
  • Work with specialised metal fabrication/welding/cutting equipment.
  • Carry out the wagon maintenance plan as scheduled
  • Ensure adequate materials and supplies are prepared for carrying out tasks safely and efficiently
  • Input of maintenance data to ensure effective maintenance plans and schedules
  • Respond to rolling stock breakdowns and recovery operations as required
  • in the development of risk assessment, WIN’s and procedures
  • Seek opportunities to improve overall operational performance

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Australian Recognised Trade qualification (Cert III in Engineering Heavy Fabrication or Equivalent)
  • Current drivers licence – C class manual
  • Experience in the maintenance of Wagons and Rail equipment
  • Proficiency in welding, cutting, fabrication, and repair processes
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
