About the role:

The Sustaining Capital team is currently seeking a Specialist Engineering Projects to join them on a Monday-Friday Roster based at Perth with regular site travel for a 12 Month Contracting Opportunity. Reporting to the Superintendent Projects Port & Rail, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of key sustaining capital projects across the Mine, Process Plant, Port and Rail including the delivery of accurate and cost-effective detailed design, accompanied by the safe execution and construction of the project, through to the point of end user handover. 

The Specialist Engineer Projects will ensure completion in accordance with time and cost constraints to achieve business objectives and support the Superintendent to identify and initiate projects within the plan.

Duties:

  • Develop and finalise scopes of work for assigned packages in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders and ensure alignment on expectations of quality, cost and schedule
  • Oversight of approximately 2,500 installation locations, requiring a strong focus on efficiency and coordination 
  • Assist with identify sustaining capital project pipeline and estimating project total cost for inclusion in financial year planning process
  • Assist with initiating projects within the plan
  • Direct and lead consultants, contractors and suppliers and key stakeholders to provide solutions and achieve project deliverables
  • Manage installation and construction works as required and ensure efficient standards of delivery are maintained
  • Interface with the wider Hancock Iron Ore to ensure complete alignment on scope and package requirements and develop project execution plans (PEP) in alignment with key stakeholder’s expectations
  • Ensure accurate drawings and other as-constructed information for new installations are internally registered and available 
  • Prepare management reports detailing project progress, commercial status and capital cost estimates

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in consulting engineering mineral projects with a preference for brownfield
  • Condition monitoring experience is preferential 
  • Site construction leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent attained experience in related discipline
