About the role:
The Integrated Remote Operations team is currently seeking an Engineer Control Systems to join them on a 7 on, 7 off days & nights roster based at the West Perth Office. Reporting to the Superintendent Control Systems you will be responsible for restoring service during plant interruptions, maintaining control-system integrity and delivering practical improvements that support safe production, equipment reliability and operational performance.
Duties:
- Provide first-response and advanced technical support for PLC, SCADA/HMI, industrial network and associated control-system issues across Mine and Port and Dewatering/NPI operations
- Act as the primary escalation point for operational control system issues, diagnosing faults, restoring service safely and minimising production impact through clear stakeholder communication and handover
- Maintain control-system integrity, security, backups, alarms, bridges/bypasses and technical documentation in accordance with HIO standards
- Investigate and implement sustainable corrective actions for recurring failures using structured problem-solving and root cause analysis
- Deliver minor modifications and optimisation scopes that improve safety, reliability, throughput and maintainability
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, IT/OT and project teams, and provide field support when required
- Carry out minor control system designs, programming, testing and commissioning as required by the Specialist Control System or Superintendents
- Analysing data and presenting findings in written reports
Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Electrical, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related discipline, or an electrical trade qualification with equivalent control-systems training and experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting, reviewing and developing industrial control systems in an operational environment, including fault finding under time pressure
- Experience with fixed-plant or bulk materials handling systems within the mining industry is highly desirable
- Experience with PLC, SCADA systems
- Previous experience working with Ethernet networks and fieldbuses
