About the role

Our Risk and Compliance team is seeking a Senior Advisor - Compliance to join the team based in Perth. Reporting to the Principal Compliance and Insurance, you will play a key part in supporting Hancock Iron Ore’s compliance, governance and assurance activities, helping to protect our licence to operate and ensure regulatory obligations are effectively understood, managed and reported.

In this role, you will partner with leaders and functional teams across the business to oversee compliance obligations, maintain compliance systems and processes, support governance reporting, and provide practical guidance on regulatory requirements. You will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of compliance frameworks, training, reporting and assurance activities, helping to embed a strong and proactive compliance culture across the business.

 

Duties

  • Lead the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the compliance and obligations management framework
  • Provide practical guidance to business leaders and functional teams on compliance requirements, regulatory obligations and governance processes
  • Maintain compliance standards, policies, systems and registers, including legal obligations and commitments
  • Monitor, review and report on compliance performance, obligations, exceptions and emerging regulatory matters
  • Participate in compliance risk assessments, assurance activities, audits and governance reporting
  • Support and deliver compliance training and communications to strengthen compliance awareness across the business
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, Legal and regulators to interpret requirements and translate them into practical controls and business

 

Skills and experience

  • Qualification in Commerce, Business Law, Legal Studies, Risk, Governance or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in compliance, risk, governance, legal or assurance roles, ideally within a complex or highly regulated environment
  • Understanding of compliance management frameworks, obligations management, corporate governance and assurance practices
  • Experience interpreting legislation, approvals and regulatory requirements, and translating them into practical business controls
  • Confident using compliance systems, GRC platforms or online databases to manage obligations, reporting and assurance activities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, advisory and communication skills, with experience influencing senior leaders and operational teams
