About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Training Superintendent to shape, deliver, and continuously improve training programs that empower our people and drive operational excellence across Hancock Iron Ore.

 

Reporting to the Manager Training, you will drive excellence in workforce capability across our operations, and embed and deliver the Training Governance Management Framework, ensuring our operational teams and stakeholders are equipped with the skills and knowledge to perform at their best. This includes leading role to competency reviews, strategic planning and budgeting for training activities and projects, developing and reviewing training resources, scheduling programs, and ensuring compliance and accurate reporting. Working closely with the central training team, you will champion consistency, provide valuable feedback, and contribute to the continuous improvement of training deliverables, all while ensuring our programs meet industry standards and support the company’s operational goals.

 

Duties

  • Lead and mentor the mine operational training team, ensuring effective work allocation, problem resolution, and coaching to meet operational needs
  • Manage and deliver high-quality training programs, driving continuous improvement through feedback and performance monitoring
  • Develop and implement the site training plan and schedules, aligned with company objectives and site-specific requirements
  • Collaborate with mine leadership, stakeholders, and the central training team to integrate and enhance training initiatives across the business
  • Assess and analyse training needs to identify skill gaps, opportunities, and priorities across mine operations
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, industry standards, and the Training Governance Management Framework.
  • Oversee data collection, reporting, and KPI monitoring to enable informed, data-driven decision making

 

Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in a Training leadership position within mining or related industries
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams with a culture of continuous improvement
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or Certificate IV in Training and Design
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and Training Governance Management Framework
  • Ability to communicate effectively, facilitate training, adapt to varied learning styles, and manage priorities to meet business objectives and deadlines
  • Project management and S26 qualifications will be well regarded
