About the role:
The Mining team is seeking a motivated Mining Engineer to join operations on an 8/6 days-only roster at the Roy Hill Mine.
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineering, this role is integral to the preparation and execution of high-quality Daily and Weekly Mine Plans, as well as Drill and Blast designs across multiple mining areas.
You will play a key role in driving safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining outcomes through strong technical delivery, planning discipline, and collaboration with operational teams.
Duties:
- Deliver Daily, Weekly, and Short-Term Mine Plans (STP) with an appropriate level of detail in the execution space to optimise resource utilisation, clearly identify risks, and enable strong operational performance.
- Prepare, review, and optimise Drill and Blast designs, including hole layouts, charging instructions, initiation timing, vibration management, and post-blast analysis.
- Conduct daily reconciliations across Drill and Blast, Load and Haul to ensure alignment with plan.
- Drive the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of mine technical systems.
- Execute assigned short-term planning tasks, provide timely updates, and report progress and target achievement to the Superintendent Mine Engineering.
- Collaborate effectively with operations teams and contractors to ensure plans are practical, achievable, and safely executed.
Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience in a Mine Engineering role within an open-cut mining environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related discipline required
- Strong understanding of mine planning cycles and short-term planning activities.
- Practical experience in Drill and Blast design, pit optimisation, and mining infrastructure design.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Current WA C-Class Driver’s Licence or national equivalent required.
