About the role:
The Technical Services team is currently seeking a Coordinator Technician Ore Definition to join them on an 8/6 days only FIFO Roster based at the Roy Hill Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor Technician Ore Definition you will be responsible, with the support of the Supervisor in leading a team of Technicians and will assist in managing field technician activities and help to maintain a high standard of data quality and integrity. Responsibilities will include logistics management, planning, scheduling, and consumables stock checks to ensure the efficient execution of the drill plan.
The Coordinator Technician will also ensure contractor earthworks activities progress in an efficient and timely manner in order to meet drill program timeframes.
This role functions as an integral part of the Ore Definition team and is responsible for acquiring and compiling high-quality geological, geochemical, and geophysical data for use in ore body modelling, mine planning and ore quality predictions.
Time distributed between field and office will be on approximately an 80/20 split respectively.
Duties:
- Provide leadership and mentoring to the Ore Definition technician team to ensure that drilling operations and associated tasks occur in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure all earthwork and field technician related activities are aligned to the mine plan and the broader business objectives.
- Assist with sample collection and submission as required.
- Support supervisor to identify the development needs of individuals and coach, mentor, and support them to improve their knowledge, skills or performance.
- Coordinate all earthworks, drill pad preparation and rehabilitation.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to ensure technical skills are shared and disseminated throughout the team.
- Effectively communicate with other business departments, including: Mine Geology, Modelling, Production, Survey and Mine Planning, to ensure information is disseminated and to assist in building a culture of collaboration.
- Ensure there is an effective handover system that enables transparency and continuation of tasks.
Skills and Experience (Required):
- MR licence
- Forklift ticket
- Dogmans ticket
- First Aid Certificate
- 4WD Certificate
Skills and Experience (Desirable):
- Experience in working unsupervised in remote locations.
- Experience working in supervision roles or experience with leading teams.
- Solid understanding of heavy mining equipment capabilities and applications, production rates, limitations etc.
- Experience with all field base drilling activities, includes planning, implementation, and rehabilitation of drill programmes.
- Experience working with different drilling programmes such as RC, Diamond Core, Wide Diameter and Bulk Sample
