About the role:
The Mining Health & Safety team is currently seeking an Advisor Health & Safety to join them on an 8/6 FIFO Roster based at the Roy Hill Mine. Reporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety, you will be responsible for enabling health and safety for our Mining portfolio, by creating foresight about the changing shape of risk to facilitate action before people are harmed and supporting line management to implement and improve safety processes and practices that meet organisational safety objectives.
Duties:
- Engage and coach front line leaders and workforce in physical and psychosocial risk reduction and develop their capacity to work safely
- Provide thought leadership and evidence-based advice to operations Superintendents, Supervisors and workforce
- Champion safety at, and attend H&S meetings, pre-start meetings and other meetings that may have relevant health and safety subject matter
- Facilitate and participate in internal audits and risk assessments
- Provide data driven safety performance reports and insights
- Facilitate the development and delivery of safety training and communication material in support of objectives
- Coach and mentor elected health and safety representatives
- Liaise with government, community and industry stakeholders as required.
- Anticipate future scenarios and update our understanding of the related risks
Skills and Experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Health & Safety or Risk Management, or relevant qualifications in disciplines such as Health, Social Science, Engineering, Law, or Human Resources
- Significant experience in a similar Health & Safety Advisory role within a mining or heavy industry
- Proven experience in facilitating ICAM Incident Investigations
- Lead Auditing Training
- Previously developed and facilitated workshops as well as coaching leaders and H&S representatives
