About the role:
The Technology Governance & Planning team is currently seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to join them on a Monday-Friday roster based at West Perth. Reporting to the Head of Technology Governance & Planning, you will be responsible for establishing and embedding the Enterprise Architecture capability within Hancock Iron Ore.
The role provides strategic technology leadership by developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture framework, ensuring technology investments are aligned to business strategy, operational priorities, and long‑term value creation. The role provides an enterprise-wide view across business capabilities, information, applications, and technology platforms to guide decision-making, improve integration, and ensure scalable, secure and resilient technology outcomes across HIO.
Duties:
- Establish and mature the Enterprise Architecture function, including frameworks, governance processes, and architectural standards aligned to HIO strategic objectives
- Develop and maintain the enterprise architecture roadmap across business capability, data, applications, and technology domains
- Provide strategic architectural oversight for major programs, technology investments and platforms to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and long‑term technology direction
- Partner with business and technology leaders to translate business strategy into technology capability roadmaps and architectural blueprints
- Define and govern architecture principles, patterns, and reference architectures that guide solution design and technology adoption across HIO
- Provide architectural assurance and design authority for significant initiatives to ensure scalability, resilience, cybersecurity, and operational sustainability
- Identify opportunities for technology rationalisation, integration, and optimisation to reduce complexity and improve operational efficiency
- Support portfolio planning and investment prioritisation through enterprise-level impact analysis and architectural insight
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience establishing, implementing and maturing enterprise architecture frameworks, standards, and governance practices within a large, complex and growing organisation
- Proven experience aligning technology strategy with business strategy across multiple domains (applications, data, infrastructure, and integration)
- Experience providing architectural oversight for large-scale technology programs or transformation initiatives
