About the role

Our Procurement and Supply team are currently seeking a Contracts Specialist to join them based in Perth. Reporting to the Lead Contracts, you will take a hands-on approach to developing and delivering contract packages and contracting strategies focused on achieving the best possible outcomes in the Sustaining Capital portfolio. 

 

Your role will involve optimising the procurement process to improve efficiencies and reduce costs, thereby enhancing the overall value delivered to the business through strategic end-to-end sourcing of goods and services within your portfolio. You will also engage in sound commercial planning to ensure effective procurement strategies. Leveraging market analysis, trends, and best practices, you will identify ongoing suppliers and sourcing opportunities. Additionally, you will partner with key stakeholders to develop tailored strategies for goods, services and specific work packages in your portfolio.

Duties:

  • Assist with the management of contracts, focusing on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and contractor performance measurement, analysis, and improvement
  • Undertake end-to-end strategic sourcing in line with the business requirements of your portfolio
  • Use sound commercial judgment in applying contractual terms and conditions
  • Provide comprehensive contract life-cycle support, encompassing all contractual and commercial activities, and develop and implement well-defined sourcing strategies
  • Provide commercial and contractual support across the business, ensuring value delivery through performance improvement, a Total Cost of Ownership focus, and effective contract management utilising a risk-based approach
  • Build positive supplier relationships and identify opportunities for consolidation, innovation, and cost savings
  • Undertake appropriate market analysis to achieve best value in goods, services and specific work packages in your portfolio
  • Collaborating closely with project teams and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Support cost reduction initiatives and security of supply of goods, services and specific work packages in your portfolio

 

Skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in contracts or category management within mining, construction or comparable industries
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive and collaborative working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in the development and implementation of sourcing strategies delivering value for the business
  • Solutions focused with a “can do” attitude, proactive with a positive mindset towards problem-solving and the ability to influence positive outcomes
  • Some experience in technology, control systems and software contracts within the mining and metals industry is preferred
  • Specific experience developing sourcing strategies, RFx’s, and contract negotiation
  • Strong computer literacy, written skills, including drafting of internal and contract artifacts
  • Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Economics, Quantity Surveying, Legal (Construction Law) or related discipline
