About the role:
The Technology Mining Systems team is currently seeking a Specialist Operational Applications AHS to join them on a Monday – Friday Roster based at Perth. Reporting to the Manager Technology Mining Systems, you will be responsible for providing Level 2 advanced technical application support and proactive monitoring for the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) at Hancock Iron Ore.
This role acts as the primary technical specialist for AHS incident resolution, system performance monitoring, and coordination between HIO operations and vendor support teams. The position is accountable for incident ownership, advanced troubleshooting, vendor escalation management, knowledge management, and maintaining SLAs.
Operating from the Perth Remote Operations Centre (ROC), this is a hands-on technical support role that acts as the central hub between HIO's Level 1 TOC, operational teams (Mine Control, Dispatch), internal technology teams, and Level 3 vendor support within a multi-tiered support structure.
Duties:
- Own and resolve escalated AHS incidents through advanced troubleshooting of TMS, FMS, Autonomy Interface Service, and supporting systems, ensuring SLA compliance and comprehensive ServiceNow documentation
- Act as Major Incident Manager for Priority 1 and Priority 2 incidents with AHS, establishing and leading technical bridge calls with all stakeholders to drive rapid service restoration
- Maintain primary ownership of all AHS incidents within the ServiceNow ITSM platform
- Proactively monitor AHS system health and performance, identifying anomalies and potential issues before operational impact
- Function as the primary technical interface between HIO operations and vendor support teams
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring and complex issues, facilitating Post-Incident Reviews and driving problem resolution through collaboration with internal teams and vendor specialists
- Create and maintain comprehensive knowledge base articles, troubleshooting procedures, system documentation, and training materials to support continuous improvement and capability development
- Generate daily incident summaries, weekly performance reports, and support metrics tracking, providing visibility of support operations and KPI performance to leadership
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience operating or supporting AHS systems
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related technical field experience in technical support or application support roles in mining or heavy industry
- Experience with mining fleet management systems and operational technology (OT) systems
- Experience with incident management and ticket triage in ITSM platforms (ServiceNow preferred)
- SQL query skills for data investigation, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Understanding of network fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
- Windows Server and Linux operating system knowledge.
- Ability to build relationships with external vendors and internal teams/stakeholders
