About the Role

An opportunity currently exists for experienced and motivated Analyst Applications to join our Technology team based in Perth.

Reporting to the Superintendent Applications, you will play a key role in supporting the critical applications that underpin both our corporate operations and our mining activities across Hancock Iron Ore. This role is central to ensuring our systems remain reliable, available, and high‑performing by providing expert incident management, system monitoring, enhancement and implementation support, as well as proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact the business.

You will collaborate with our Infrastructure and Integration teams to enable business capabilities, with integration support, data flow analysis, SQL troubleshooting, and coding or scripting tasks that improve automation, reporting, and overall system performance. Success in this role includes effective management of external vendors and an understanding of the financial impacts associated with application and system support, helping us maintain strong cost control and budget alignment.

Duties

  • Provide Level 2/3 support for corporate and operational applications, managing incidents, problems, and service requests in line with HIO’s ITSM processes and SLAs
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend long‑term solutions that improve system stability and reliability
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the business to clarify requirements and support effective and efficient system use
  • Support change and release activities including planning, testing, CAB participation, deployments, and post‑release validation
  • Prepare and execute test plans, assist with UAT, and ensure all systems are ready for operational use
  • Liaise with software vendors and partners to manage escalations, patches, upgrades, and enhancements, maintaining clear and accurate documentation
  • Identify opportunities to optimise system performance, improve workflows and user experience, and apply site‑centric awareness when prioritising work, including occasional travel to site when required

Skills and experience

  • Demonstrated experience managing and deploying applications in both project and BAU environments, supported by relevant Engineering, IT, or related qualifications (Advanced Diploma or Degree desirable)
  • Experience providing Level 2/3 support across corporate and operational systems, including incident/problem management, root cause analysis, and effective vendor coordination
  • Strong capability in business engagement, change and release processes, and maintaining clear, accurate documentation to support reliable system performance
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and prioritise work with an understanding of production‑critical, safety‑driven, and site‑based operational requirements
  • Solid technical knowledge of application stacks, system integrations, APIs, cloud platforms (Azure), and how corporate and operational systems interact across data, network, and OT environments
  • Practical experience with SQL and scripting (PowerShell or Python) for troubleshooting, diagnostics, automation, and data validation, along with exposure to mining‑related technologies, monitoring tools, security/access controls, and DR/backup requirements
