About the role: 

The Mine Geology team is currently seeking a Pit Technician to join them on an 8/6 days only roster based atthe Sanjiv Ridge mine site. Reporting to the Coordinator Technician, you will be responsible to undertake hands on field work and technical outputs in support of the Mine Geology team on site. There will also be requirement to assist other technical services and operation teams, including Environmental, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Surveying and Operations, making for a diverse role with plenty of upskilling potential. This role will be on a 12 month Maximum Term contract.

 

Duties: 

You will assist our technical services and mine operations teams with a range of sampling activities and inspections, including all associated data entry and validation. You will ensure the safe transportation of samples from sites to the laboratory and will be responsible for maintaining regular stock checks and replenishment so that the required equipment is readily available to complete tasks.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Blast hole, plant, water, moisture and density, and ROM sampling
  • Daily pit face checks, ROM, stockyard, and waste dump inspections
  • Producing crushing instructions to support Integrated Weekly Plans
  • Monitoring vegetation and fauna
  • Bore monitoring
  • Blast monitoring and data tracking
  • Basic survey set out and pick-ups
  • UAV surveys

 

Skills and Experience: 

  • Experience working in a mine production/fieldwork environment, including knowledge and skills of Microsoft office 
  • WA C class manual driver’s license or national equivalent 
  • Demonstrated ability to build sustainable relationships across all levels of the organisation with a consultative approach 
  • Excellent people and communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve and show initiative 
  • Flexible in approach with an adaptive style to suit changing workplace requirements 
  • Ability to work a flexible roster to provide coverage across the 3 operations 
  • Take part in, and prompt a positive safety culture, completing Take 5’s, Hazard reporting and Safety conversations 
  • Ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision
