About the role
Hancock Iron Ore is currently seeking a Trainer Assessor – Water and NPI to join the team based at the Roy Hill Mine. Reporting to the Supervisor Training, you will help strengthen workforce capability, support safe and consistent work practices, and contribute to reliable performance across Water and Non-Process Infrastructure operations.
In this role, you will deliver and assess competency-based training for employees and contractors across Water and Non-Process Infrastructure operations. You will help ensure our people are trained, verified and authorised to perform role-specific tasks, operate relevant plant and equipment, and understand the critical risks, procedures and controls that keep our teams safe. As part of the broader training function, you will also support capability across the business and contribute to a safe, compliant and high-performing operational environment.
This position will be offered on a job share arrangement, working 7 days on, 21 days off roster.
Duties:
- Deliver classroom, practical and on-the-job training in line with approved materials, procedures and the HIO Training and Competency Management Framework
- Conduct assessments, VOCs, refreshers and reassessments to confirm personnel can safely and effectively perform required tasks
- Support onboarding and mobilisation through area orientations, site familiarisations, mandatory learning and role-based training plans
- Ensure personnel understand Water and NPI critical risks and apply key controls, including isolation, lockout, zero energy verification, access, PPE and emergency response requirements
- Maintain accurate training and assessment records in the LMS, ensuring documentation is completed, uploaded and retained in line with HIO requirements
- Partner with supervisors and operational leaders to identify training gaps, upcoming expiries and workforce capability needs
- Mentor On-the-Job Trainers and Assessors, improve training resources, and escalate training risks, competency gaps and improvement opportunities
Skills and Experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, current C Class driver’s licence, and relevant High Risk Work Licence, such as Forklift, Dogging, Crane or Elevated Work Platform
- Experience in training, assessment or competency-based workplace training within mining, resources, utilities, water operations, NPI or similar heavy industry environments
- Demonstrated capability in classroom, practical and on-the-job training, including competency-based assessments, VOCs, refresher training and reassessments
- Knowledge of competency-based training principles, training governance requirements, assessment standards, LMS platforms such as SuccessFactors, and accurate training record management
- Understanding of Water and NPI operations, equipment, infrastructure, critical risks and associated controls
- Experience developing training resources, interpreting procedures and engaging with operational, technical and support teams to manage priorities, identify training gaps and support continuous improvement
