About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller for a part-time position (2–3 days per week) on a 2 – 3 month contract, based at our West Perth office. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role is accountable for the effective management and control of project costs on a construction project in West Perth. The Cost Controller will ensure costs are accurately forecasted, tracked, and controlled, providing the project team with clear financial insight to support delivery within approved budgets.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and timely cost reports and variance analyses, ensuring the leadership team is well informed on project cost performance.
  • Prepare and present monthly project cost reports to the leadership team.
  • Track and control project expenditure against approved budgets, delivering reliable forecasts and proactively identifying potential cost risks or pressures.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of variations and accurately assess and review invoices.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and Site Supervisor to maintain accurate cost and financial records, ensuring commercial, budget, and financial management align with project forecasts.

 

Requirements for the Role

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in cost control roles within the construction sector.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
  • Mandatory experience using the CMS cost control system at an intermediate or higher level.
  • Strong understanding of cost control and project management principles and methodologies.
  • Proven experience in budget management, forecasting, and identification of cost risks.
  • High attention to detail, with a disciplined approach to cost tracking and reporting.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced construction environment.
